EAGLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES
MAY 30, 1997
1. CALL TO ORDER 5:22 P.M.:
2. ROLL CALL: Bastian, Masner, Merrill. Bastian absent.
3. CANVAS VOTES: Canvas the re-count of Proposition B, Library Bond issue.
City Clerk reports that there were 1,191 votes cast in favor of Proposition B and 601 against
Proposition B. There were 102 blank ballots.
Masner moves that we approve the canvass of the votes on Proposition B with votes in
favor 1,191 and votes against 601. Seconded by Merrill. ALL AYE: MOTION
CARRIES ...........
4. EXECUTIVE SESSION: Discussion of land acquisition.
General discussion.
Masner moves that we take action to buy the parcel of land that is intend to build the
library and city hall. My reason for making this Motion is land values in Eagle are now
somewhere between $6 and $10 a square foot. We have an opportunity to purchase this
land at $2.10 a square foot and if we fail in future bond elections to get the library
approved we can always sell the land at no loss to the City. I feel that on that basis it is a
wise and justifiable thing to do in spite of the fact that the bond lost by two votes.
Seconded by Merrill. Masner, AYE, Merrill AYE. ALL AYE: MOTION CARRIES ....
Merrill moves that we start the proceedings for another library bond election. Seconded by
Masner. Discussion. Input by Susan Thomas, Eagle Library Boards. Amend motion to
say that we would like to hear from the Library Board on the June 10~h City Council
meeting. The Second concurs. ALL AYE: MOTION CARRIES .............
8. ADJOURNMENT: Merrill moves to adjourn, Seconded by Masner. ALL AYE,
MOTION CARRIES..Hearing not further business, the Council Meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
