Autism Awareness Day
Proclamation
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle is a Community of compassion and dedicated to
being a wonderful place to live and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, as, every family faces challenges that require Faith, Love &
Hope; and
WHEREAS, Autism affects 1 in every 150 children born today. Over 1.5
million Americans today have some form of autism including some families of our
own City; and
WHEREAS, it is known that with proper education, training and community
living options, individuals with autism can lead distinguished, productive lives in
their communities and strive to reach their fullest potential; and
WHEREAS, Autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disabilities in
the world; and
WHEREAS, the annual costs of such disabilities grow to the billions of
dollars; and yet service options lag the needs of those impacted; and
WHEREAS, our Community supports increasing awareness of this
challenging disability and fair funding for research and services for those in need;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle would like to commend Robert & Sandy Waters
on their radio show "The Candy Store" that air's on Autism One Radio. Named after
their beautiful 6 year old red headed daughter Candace who has autism; and
WHEREAS, they bring vital and important information to the community and
other parents who have a child with autism and other disabilities; and
WHEREAS, we would like to further honor Robert & Sandy Waters for writing
a song titled "Faith, Love and Hope" for their daughter Candace which has
increased autism awareness and compassion around the WORLD!!; and
NOW, THEREFORE,The City of Eagle declares September as Autism Awareness
Month in our city in honor of wonderful Candace Waters.
Also, let it further be known from this day forth that September 8th
Candace's Birthday be known as "Candy's Day" to increase autism
awareness and compassion in our fair City ITown.
