Pack the Track, Racing Against Hunger
Proclamation
WHEREAS, the health and well-being of children is our responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Idaho ranks eighth in the prevalence of childhood hunger and
WHEREAS, the number of families who seek food from Idaho food pantries and feeding
programs has nearly doubled this summer, and
WHEREAS, many working families need help providing food for their children for the first
time due to the increase in fuel costs, and
WHEREAS, KQFC, KBOI, and the Pack the Track Committee are holding Pack the Track
Racing Against Hunger, August 9-11 at the Meridian Speedway, collecting food to be distributed
throughout Idaho by non-profits who will give the food to needy families,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nancy C. Merrill, Mayor do hereby proclaim the 9TH through the
11 th of August, 2006, to be
Pack the Track Racing Against Hunger Days
in the City of Eagle, Idaho, and urge that all citizens remember that due to increased living expenses,
many families in our community need help providing enough food for their families this Summer.
Our citizens are encouraged to donate to this food drive or any agency that provides food to the
needy, or to seek help with food for their own family if necessary.
