Re: 660 Ballantyne Machine Shed
Building permit number 03-02-046 under property owner Phil Nyborg was submitted with engineering
calling out a center beam to reduce the roof span. Mr. Nyborg substituted the beam with the addition of
full length girls attached to all rafters as the center posts location conflict with the machinery that is
stored at this site The roof covering material is steel capable of sliding snow accumulations. Mr.
Nyborg milled lumber from trees that were cut on the site.This is prohibited under the provisions of the
IBC section 2303.1.1 but has been a practice in the State of Idaho for over a century.The building falls
into Category 1of Table 1604.5 IBC 2003 as an agricultural facility not intended for human occupation
and represents a low hazard to human life so the building was completed and final inspections were
performed under the as built conditions.
