A RESOLUTION OF THE EAGLE CITY COUNCIL, EAGLE, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO. ADOPTING
THE EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY STRATEGIC PLAN FOR FY2005/06 TO FY2009/10 AS COMPILED
BY THE EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE AND
RECOMMEDED BY THE EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR COUNCIL
ADOPTION ON JUNE 13,2005 AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, this is the Eagle Public Library's first formal strategic plan; and
WHEREAS, it is also the first comprehensive description and evaluation of the Library within the
context of its service community; and
WHEREAS, the Plan seeks to help the Library bring personnel resources more into line with the
explosive growth in public uses of the institution since 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Plan seeks to move the Library from chiefly circulation operation to a full service
institution over the next five via higher investment in specialized, professionally-trained personnel; internal
remodeling of the library building for improved efficiency and capacity and selective enhancement of
collections to meet sophisticated demands for reference and IT service, student research help and non-fiction
reading materials; and
WHEREAS, the Plan seeks to ensure that the Library continues to playa vital role in the Eagle
Community through proposals such as expanding the size of the current library building by 50% and to
e.stablish a branch in the developing west end of the City. The Plan also proposes a formula for increasing staff
as circulation increases; and
WHEREAS, the Plan creates an ongoing planning process to keep the Library responsive to unexpected
growth, development, and change in what is likely to be a very dynamic service environment over the next
quarter of a century within the budget duly appropriated annually by the Mayor and City Council and that other
funds may be sought for such purposes from other lawfully sources.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EAGLE, IDAHO.
Section 1: The Mayor and City County do hereby adopt the Eagle Public Library Strategic Plan
FY2005106 to FY 2009110 as recommended by the Eagle Public Library Board of Trustees on June 13,2005,
with the understanding that by this adoption the Council does not agree that appropriation of funds will be
available to meet this plan.
Section 2: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption and approval.
