AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EAGLE, ADA COUNTY IDAHO, AMENDING EAGLE
CITY CODE CHAPTER 2A TITLE 8 SECTIONS 8:B "DEFINITION OF MONUMENT
SIGN", 8:C.2 "GENERAL GUIDELINES", 8:E "MONUMENT AND DETACHED STREET
SIGNS".
WHEREAS, The City of Eagle proposes to modify the definition of a monument sign to
allow more flexibility with regard to its construction, to establish specific criteria for signage
on fuel island canopies, and to eliminate the requirement for the second sign for a
freestanding business to be limited to 8 -square feet.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EAGLE, IDAHO, as follows:
Section 1: That Title 8 of the Eagle City Code Section 8 -2A -8:B "Definition of
Monument Sign", and Section 8 -CA -8:C2 "General Guidelines", and Section 8 -CA -8:E
"Monument and Detached Street Signs" in Chapter 2A of is hereby amended to read as
follows:
8-2A-8: SIGN REGULATIONS
B. Definitions:
MONUMENT SIGN. A freestanding sign with a solid base. or with supports that
are desianed to be structurally similar to the sign construction. and which
incorporate architectural features which compliment the sian construction. Pole
type supports are not permitted.
C. General Guidelines:
2. Free hanging signboards attached under covered porches or
canopies, are permitted, but no such sign may exceed eight square feet (8
sq. ft.) nor shall any such sign extend beyond the porch or canopy to
which it is attached. A minimum distance of seven feet six inches (7' 6")
shall be required between a walkway and the bottom of a free hanging
signboard.
Fuel island canopies shall be permitted to have a maximum of two

the canopy face. The heiaht and width of the sign shall be reviewed with.
reaard to its proportional relationship to the height and width of the

4. Each individual free-standing business shall be limited to two signs,
including the monument or detached street sign. but excludina anv

) the area allowed by Section 8-2A-8: C.4.
Section 2: The provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable and if
any provision of this act or the application of such provision to any person or
circumstance is declared invalid for any reason, such declaration shall not affect the
validity of remaining portions of this ordinance.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage,
approval, and publication as required by law. In lieu of publication of the entire
ordinance, a summary thereof in compliance with Section 50-901A, Idaho Code, may
be published.
